Mary’s Pizzeria launches in Sydney’s The Lansdowne Hotel

Jake Smyth and Kenny Graham, the brains behind Sydney icons Mary’s and The Unicorn, along with Mary’s Group Executive Chef Jimmy Garside, are doubling down on their pizza options at The Lansdowne Hotel with the launch of Mary’s Pizzeria.

Described as the “Mary’s Burger” of the pizza world, the new venue has been fitted into the pub and live music venue with an intimate 12 seat dining area with table service and a wine list curated by Tai Tate. Additional seats will huddle around the kitchen counter, so even more people can duck in between all those quality live music gigs to get a taste of the NY style pizza which has been refined with a 72 hour fermented dough and premium Italian and Australian ingredients. And don’t worry, the (“fucked up”, as Smyth described it) Detroit-style square pan pizzas are also on the menu, with a cheesy crust for extra indulgence.

“Our love of Dominos and Pizza Hut has grown into an obsession over the years. The interplay of childhood nostalgia mixed with current day disappointments has made us want to create a pizza menu we actually want to eat,” explained Graham. “The Mary’s phrase of ‘don’t be shit’ is as much about the food as it is the people”.
