The bushfire crisis in Australia is ongoing, ferocious and will require a long-term strategy of growth and support for those effected. This past week many celebrities around the world have come out and pledged substantial amounts to help with various bushfire appeal funds aimed at supporting a wide range of people and animals who have suffered greatly.
It’s not just live music which will help raise these funds, but also the incredible food and drink industry, many members of which count as victims themselves. Here is a list to help you get across the many food and drink events or initiatives that will be donating to help support those fighting the bushfires, and those who have been effected.
New South Wales
Bopp & Tone

A shared feast from a bespoke menu coupled with drinks, entertainment and the opportunity to enter a prize raffle and silent action, with the full ticket price going to Salvation Army, Australian Red Cross and WIRES Wildlife Rescue. Solotel x Matt Moran Restaurants
Date: Until Sunday 9th February
Solotel’s Matt Moran driven restaurants like Chiswick Woollahra, Aria and Chiswick at the Gallery are introducing bespoke menu items and drinks especially for their part in the bushfire appeal. Whenever these specific drinks and dishes are purchased, all funds will go directly to the NSW RFS. This includes fish’n’chips at Chiswick at the Gallery, and whole roast duck at Barangaroo House’s Bea. More information HERE.
Lancemore Hotels
Lancemore Hotels, a collection of boutique accommodations across Australia, including the Larmont Sydney and Almanda Palm Cove, are getting involved in raising funds to help. For the remainder of January, any bookings made using the code ‘relief’ will mean 15% of the cost going directly to the Australian Red Cross Relief and Recovery Fund. For those evacuating these horrific bushfires in Victoria, Lancemore Macedon Ranges is able to accomodate horses, cattle and sheep.

The Fullerton Hotel
The Fullerton Hotel Sydney, located in the former GPO Building at Martin Place, will donate a portion of the sales proceeds from various stay and dining packages to the Salvation Army Disaster Appeal which supports communities effected by the devastating bushfires in New South Wales and Queensland. Solotel Venues
Date: Friday 17th January, 5pm-7pm
All Solotel venues, which totals 21 in Sydney including Opera Bar, Smoke and The Erko, will host a Bushfire Relief Hour on the Friday where all proceeds from food and drink purchased between 5pm and 7pm will go straight to the bushfire appeal. More information HERE.

This beloved Sydney restaurant is introducing an “Aussie favourites” degustation menu from Thursday 14th January to early April, with inventive twists on distinctive national nostalgic eats like vegemite focaccia and a fancy version of the classic Bunnings sausage sizzle or weetbix & milk. Chef Nelly Robinson will be donated $5 from each degustation to Rural Aid, which supports Aussie farmers – something that will be very necessary in the recovery process.

The Sam Prince Hospitality Group, which encompasses Indu Dining, Mejico and Kid Kyoto, are now selling gift vouchers for $30, redeemable at any of the three eateries. All the money is going straight to the NSW RFS. Vouchers can be purchased HERE.

Cast of Falcons Group
In response to the current bushfire crisis, Melbourne venue group Cast of Falcons are encouraging punters to raise a glass for the CFA. The hospitality group are behind venues Section 8, The B.East, Ferdydurke, Globe Alley – and more recently Radar, outdoor bar/arts space Park and Fitzroy plant-based diner Henry’s. From Monday the 13th of January, a special native-inspired gin drink offer will be available across all the group’s seven venues – with 100% of revenue going to the CFA. Infused with gin, lemon and elements of the native Lemon Myrtle flower, the offer will be available as shot or a twist on a Collins cocktail at all seven venues, until sold out.
