Hawaiian Airlines expand on codeshare agreement with Virgin Australia

In a move that will offer Australian and New Zealand travellers more options when it comes to flying over to Hawai’i, Hawaiian Airlines have entered an expanded codeshare agreement with Virgin Australia.

More than a dozen Australia and New Zealand cities will benefit from this broader range of flights to Hawai’i, as well as the usual benefits of a codeshare which include one-stop check-in, checked-through baggage, and loyalty rewards benefits.

Building upon Virgin’s popular codeshare flights operated by Hawaiian between Sydney (SYD) and Honolulu (HNL), the agreement not only continues from the popular gateways of Brisbane (BNE) and Auckland (AKL), but now extends to guests travelling to Hawai’i from cities including Melbourne (MEL), Cairns (CNS), Townsville (TSV), and Mackay (MKY), who are now able to connect on Hawaiian codeshare flights to BNE and SYD operated by Virgin Australia.

From 10th April, Virgin Australia guests will also be able to book non-stop flights to Honolulu from Brisbane on Virgin Australia codeshare flights operated by Hawaiian. This is in addition to all existing codeshare flights between Sydney and Honolulu, as well as Maui (OGG), Kauai (LIH), and Kona on the Island of Hawai’i (KOA).

New Zealanders in Christchurch (CHC), Wellington (WLG), Dunedin (DUD) and other cities, including the alpine resort town of Queenstown (ZQN), will also be able to travel across the Tasman on Hawaiian codeshare flights operated by Virgin Australia.

“We are delighted to expand our relationship and look forward to sharing our Hawaiian hospitality with more Virgin Australia passengers aboard our aircraft”, said Hawaiian Airlines regional director for AUS & NZ Andrew Stanbury. “Hawai’i is a hugely popular destination with Australians and New Zealanders and we are excited to extend our reach and provide a seamless travel experience to the Hawaiian Islands”.

Of course, both airlines will offer members of their respective loyalty programs the opportunity to earn and redeem points or miles for travel on either carrier. As a refresher, HawaiianMiles members can earn miles on eligible classes of Virgin Australia-operated flights and vice-versa.

All new codeshare flights are also currently on sale at hawaiianairlines.com.au and hawaiianairlines.co.nz.
