Amari to make its debut in Japan with a Niseko resort

Japan is about to get its very first hotel from renowned brand Amari, coming in the form of a 126-room resort nestled in the heart of ski-haven Niseko.

Announced today, ONYX Hospitality Group will be opening Amari Niseko in 2024 as part of mixed-use development Aruku-zaka Street, designed to complement the Hirafu area’s unique character and setting. While full details aren’t known about the highly anticipated development, Aruku-zaka Street will be defined by a series of low-rise buildings, central plazas and a pedestrian walkway, thread through a highly curated collection of lifestyle, retail, food and beverage destinations.

Accessible via a scenic two hour train journey from New Chitose Airport in Sapporo, Amari Niseko will be focused on providing an ideal base for the area’s bountiful outdoors lifestyle, anchoring that with a variety of studio, one-bedroom suite and two-bedroom suite configurations all framed by contemporary Thai design blended with locally-minded flourishes. This will include a concept restaurant that transitions from all-day restaurant to a destination cocktail bar as night falls.

“Originally from Thailand, Amari has been going places and introducing its unique take on contemporary Thai-ness to new markets like the Maldives, Malaysia, China and Sri Lanka in recent years”, explained Douglas Martell, President and Chief Executive Officer, ONYX Hospitality Group. “We are excited to be introducing our flagship brand to yet another new destination with the signing of our very first hotel in Japan”.

Amari Niseko will open in 2024.
