Local artists have a chance to win $2000 thanks to this new Aussie start up

The new Australian startup LOUDAR.COM launched its beta website last month, promising to change the way artists and fans get paid – and we’re excited to be one of the industry partners supporting the new platform.

The site has been set up by Tom Chwieduk and Mac Mikosik, two Gold Coast musicians with tech skill sets, the initial idea came about during their seven-year stint running the design, web and promo department of one of the largest studios on the Gold Coast. Frustrated by the way the industry model had evolved with streaming all but eliminating ‘reasonable’ incomes for independent artist’s they asked themselves the question – “is there another way?”

There are a variety of ways the platform is aiming to answer this question, and to start it’s engaging with both musicians and their audience, providing revenue opportunities for the music of the former, and incentives for their fans to help promote their content. While paid live streaming is on the horizon, for the Beta launch, most of this revolves around music videos, where fans can pay to vote for your video.

Artists are sign up for free through LOUDAR.COM  and upload their video(s), and start promoting votes for their fans. It costs a fan $1 to vote, and at least 50% of that goes directly to the artist. In January and February, the most voted for video will with $2000 in prize money each month, and all videos will have the opportunity to win prizes from a variety of industry partners, from Beats by Dre headphones to promotional packages.

If you want to be a part of the January campaign, just enter by January 23rd.

Also get on the site by January 23rd to go in the running to be featured by us here at the AU! We will be choosing one music video which will become our Track of the Day in late January, also getting added to our Spotify “Discovery” playlist and enjoying a feature on the track promoted through all the AU review’s social media channels.

While all that is happening, fans can engage with the content by enjoying the music videos for free, and they’ll have the option to pay to vote for their favourite artist, helping give the artist the chance to win cash and prizes. They can also make some of that money back by becoming a “viral agent”, sharing videos for free and getting 10c every time someone votes off their link. They can also become a “talent scout” by inviting artists to sign up, earning 5c every time someone votes on that artist’s videos.

We’ll be very interested to see how things go over the Beta period, and look forward to awarding one lucky artist the Track of the Day position later this month
