Record Store Day: What’s on and where!

Everyone loves that vinyl sound and, since today is Record Store Day, there’s no better time to head down to your local independent record store, pick up a few bargains, and maybe even snap up some of those legendary limited editions!

But there’s more than just great tunes on offer! Plenty of stores have loads planned for the rest of the day, so, to help you guys out, here’s our pick of what’s on around Australia!

MELBOURNE

Record Store Day coincides with Greville Records’ 40th birthday! Expect limited edition releases, huge discounts, and live music from 11am!

Wax Museum have an incredible FOURTEEN hours of music lined up for vinyl lovers, starting at 10am and running all the way to midnight.

Kensington’s White Rabbit will have DJs all day and snacks on hand for all you crate diggers! Plus, buy a lucky dip and spin the wheel!

The killer Cookin’ on 3 Burners will be doing the rounds at several stores throughout the day, livestreaming from both the venue and on the road in the Funk Wagon as they zip around Melbourne on their Funk Cruise!

ADELAIDE

Streetlight will be running not one, but TWO Record Store Day parties! All ages in store and strictly grown-ups only from 5pm at the Exeter Beer Garden!

Load up on vegan cupcakes and shop into the small hours at Clarity Records, who’ll be open for 24 hours straight!

There’ll be giveaways every hour at Rerun Records, and a $100 voucher is on offer at Vinyl Squeeze!

BRISBANE & GOLD COAST

It’s a double celebration at Southport’s Atlantis Music, with both Record Store Day and their 21st birthday! Win yourself some serious spending money, with a $10,000 cash prize up for grabs! There’s also a sausage sizzle, which is, honestly, just as exciting!

Iconic Brisbane city store Rocking Horse Records is back again – expect prizes, limited edition records, and a long queue!

This year’s Jet Black Cat/Record Store Day t-shirt has been designed by Sam Netterfield of Cub Sport and it’s only available at the West End store, so get down there ASAP!

Sonic Sherpa is back for another massive year, with food trucks, craft beer, and live music in the Stones Corner Hotel arpark. All ages, free entry!

PERTH

Sound One are throwing something a little different into the mix today, with a jazz pianist, and a double act featuring a 12 year old accordion prodigy and his grandfather!

Proving they’re more than capable of organising a piss-up at a brewery, Rhubarb Records will be partying with Record Store Day patrons at Nowhereman Brewing Co. Spot prizes for the first 20 customers!

Midland Records. Cupcakes. ‘nuff said.

SYDNEY

Heavy metal specialists Utopia Records will open briefly at midnight for all you hardcore hunters, before kicking off the main event at 7am!

Red Eye Records have another early start planned, kicking things off at 8am sharp!

Head over to Darlinghurst, where The Record Store will be on hand to provide free live music, free food, and FREE BEER.
