Music Matters Interview: Almond Soy (WA) talk the Perth music scene and the direction of their sound

From humbling beginnings in Brandon’s bedroom in Perth to playing the main-stage marquee at Music Matters 2018 in Singapore, Almond Soy have come a long way in just two short years.

Following the release of their debut EP Social Misfit early this year, Almond Soy have been busy making a name for themselves touring Australia with their breezy indie pop tunes. Following on from the success of singles “I Could Be the One” and “Happy Ever After”, the band’s new single “Silhouette” is the perfect mix of summery fun and poignantly reflective lyrics. Despite having just nine days of downtime between the conclusion of their whirlwind August tour and jetting off to Music Matters the band are “just stoked to be able to get on a plane and play our tunes to more people”.

With plans to get “back in the studio writing some good music” as soon as they can, we were lucky enough to squeeze in some time to chat to Almond Soy about their crazy schedule, the direction of their sound and the Perth music scene “family” that’s spawned so many talented bands.
