Lauryn Hill announces Australian tour with special guest Nas

It has been two decades since Ms Lauryn Hill branched out into a solo career, releasing her seminal The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and watching it become one of the most acclaimed, awarded and influential albums of its time. She’s been busy touring it around the world for the all important 20 year anniversary, and now finally Australia (well, the East Coast of Australia) will get a shot in as she returns down under, eyeing a February tour with a very special guest in tow.

And that guest is none of than legendary emcee Nas, the hip hop titan bringing his own healthy dose of classics to open up the show for his long-time friend and collaborator.

Ms. Hill will follow her headlining performance earlier this year at Bluefest Byron Bay, where she reflected deeply upon her solo classic as an intimate piece of her young existence.

“It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeless and positive emotions experienced to date. I loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both love and health itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement”, she notes. “Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with love and optimism at the helm”.

While she’ll be bringing hits like “Doo Wop (That Thing)” and “Everything is Everything” to the table, Nas will equal the quality with his own material. From Illmatic to his recent Kanye West-produced Nasir, the emcee’s emcee is bound to be just as big a drawcard as Ms. Hill as he weaves through some of hip hop’s most beloved and important cuts. It seems a no-brainer that the two will perform “If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)”, their hit 1996 collaboration, together on stage.

The tour will spread across just three Australian cities in February 2019, starting off in Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Thursday 7th, heading up to Brisbane’s Riverstage on Sunday 10th, and wrapping up at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Wednesday 13th. Tickets for all shows go on sale at 2pm Tuesday 11th September, but My Live Nation members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale beginning 12pm Friday, September 7.
