Exclusive Video Premiere: Libby Steel “Miss Me” (2019)

We are thrilled today to be bringing you the first look at the video from Libby Steel for her latest release “Miss Me”. Libby hails from Cobden in Victoria, and won the triple j Unearthed competition for the Queenscliff Music Festival in 2018.  Her previous single “Fever Acoustic” received rave reviews, and this is a welcome successor.

The song examines whether we are going to be missed when we are gone. The vocals and tenor of the song appear to vacillate between hope that this will be the case, possibly into an exaltation that it doesn’t really matter and seems to end with a beautifully husky desire that this will be the case. The tail-end of the song draws comparisons to the beauty that is London Grammar. The song was produced by Michael Stangel at the Medici Studio in Geelong.

The video nicely complements the tone of the song. Libby describes it best – “The cinematography in ‘Miss Me’ is really simplistic but powerful. Its contrasting scenes and lighting brings the swells in the song to life. I loved being able to direct the clip with the help of Kate Shearer behind camera.”
