Exclusive EP Premiere: Down For Tomorrow – Thanks To You (2019)

Sydney pop punkers Down For Tomorrow are gearing up to drop their sophomore EP Thanks To You, and we’ve scored an exclusive listen ahead of the official release tomorrow!

From humble house parties and local bars to support slots for the likes of Dear SeattleDead Letter CircusRedHookForever Ends HereThe Dead Love and Yours Truly, Down For Tomorrow are a band on the rise, with strong support online and radio play from triple j and 4ZZZ.

Consisting of Cody Stebbings (guitar/vocals), Tom Bleasedale (guitar), Sam Richardson (bass/vocals), and Henry Beard (drums), the Northern Beaches quartet cite Green Day, Kisschasy, and Luca Brasi among their influences.

On the EP’s title track, Stebbings says:

“”Thanks to You” explores the feelings of anger and confusion I had at a time when a very important friendship in my life abruptly ended. It starts off, word for word, with me recounting the text I woke up to that morning, and trying to understand why this person no longer needed me in their life, when they were still such a huge part of mine. The song is about one-way friendships and the effect it can have in someone who invests a lot of time into someone who couldn’t return it.”

The rest of the EP follows a similar emotive pattern, with heartfelt lyrics that you can already imagine being yelled back at the band by fans. It’s earnest and cathartic, bolstered by a cracking melodic sound that’s as perfect for angry at home listening as it is for live shows.

Don’t believe me? Check the whole damn thing out below!

If you’re keen to catch the boys in action, they’ll be supporting Stuck Out and Harbours at The Chippo, Sydney this weekend. They’ll also be launching Thanks To You at Sydney’s Sly Fox on August 17th – you can find out more info and pick up tickets via the Facebook event here.
