Every trailer from today’s PlayStation State of Play

PlayStation have dropped the latest State of Play broadcast overnight. The broadcast, PlayStation’s first since October, covered PS4 and PSVR titles launching in 2020.

So what was on the docket?

Untitled Goose Game

Untitled Goose Game by Melbourne developer House House will make its PlayStation 4 debut next week, December 17, just in time for Christmas. Take it home and show the family.

Spellbreak

A new battle royale title called Spellbreak by developer Proletariat. Essentially, it’s a big wizard fight. You fling flashy, high damage spells at each other and use magic to increase maneuverability and verticality. The trailer looked very busy, there’s a lot of effects going off, but it does look like fun! There’s also a closed beta period coming to the PS4 in Q1-2 2020.

Dreams

Media Molecule’s Dreams finally got a release date — February 14, 2020. Dreams is difficult to describe. It’s a creative sandbox in which no idea seems too big or too small. It’s pretty special, and we think you’ll agree.

Superliminal

Perspective-based puzzler Superliminal is coming to PS4. It’s a clever, first-person puzzle game that asks you to look at the world from different angles. Thinking outside the box is required to solve its many, multifaceted puzzles.

Paper Beast

PlayStation VR wasn’t left out in the cold. Paper Beast is a new experience for Sony’s VR kit that combines exploration with … herding? We think? It’s a game set on a papercraft world that lets you round up strange digital animals. Watch the trailer, you’ll see what we mean.

Kingdom Hearts III: Re:mind

Kingdom Hearts 3‘s fully fledged expansion, KH3 Re:mind boasts Final Fantasy characters, new worlds and a continuation of the dense and often confusing plot of the base game. For KH stans not ready to let the game go after such a long wait, this will be a godsend. Drops January 23, 2020.

Predator: Hunting Grounds

Predator: Hunting Grounds got a bit of an update, introducing three new Predator classes along with a few sweet preorder bonuses. Is anyone actually going to play as the humans? We don’t know why you would. Look at those Predators! Dope. The asymmetrical multiplayer shooter drops April 24, 2020.

Babylon’s Fall

Babylon’s Fall was one of this broadcast’s few real surprises. A new collaboration between Square Enix and PlatinumGames, Babylon’s Fall appears to be a high fantasy adventure game in the now-classic Platinum mould. Think Bayonetta but you have a long sword and can conjure wizard magic. “More Information Next Summer” reads a fade out card as the trailer ends. Could we have just seen a glimpse of our first PlayStation 5 launch title?

Resident Evil 3

Ok. This one has been tied to one of the leakiest ships of the year, but we’ve finally got confirmation: a full scale remaster of Resident Evil 3 is set for release April 3, 2020. It will be bundled with the multiplayer title Resident Evil Resistence. Claire Redfield is back, gang. Great day in the morning.

25 Years of PlayStation

Sony then took a moment to reflect. PlayStation creator Ken Kutaragi appeared in a short video message to fans and devs alike, celebrating the system’s recent 25th anniversary. A major industry milestone. Congratulations to Sony on a truly ridiculous run.

Ghost of Tsushima

As the broadcast wound up, PlayStation treated fans to one last trailer. Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima has been on the backburner this year. This short trailer builds to a simple conclusion: To Be Continued. This suggests PlayStation will have more to say about it in the near future, likely in a future State of Play. We look forward to seeing what Sucker Punch has up their sleeve.

(Thanks to our buds at IGN for that trailer embed.)

And that’s all she wrote! Check out the trailers above and let us know what you think. Excited for 2020 or are you all about that PS5 life? Sound off on Facebook and Twitter! You can watch the full State of Play broadcast right here.
