Now that U River Cruises, a dedicated millennial reimagining of the classic river cruise experience, has been firmly established amongst new-gen travellers, the company is now looking towards playful themed cruises to spice up their offering.
Two themed itineraries will be rolled out later this year, both on board the company’s “The A” vessel which frames them around eight-day cruises in Germany, from Frankfurt to Regensburg.
First up will be “U in Drag”, for sail in early July with none other than celebrity trio Jiggly Caliente, Darienne Lake and Phi Phi O’Hara (from RuPaul’s Drag Race) jumping on board for the entire itinerary. They’ll be entertaining guests with interactive activities including karaoke nights, drag makeup lessons, an exclusive bar crawl at one of the ship’s ports, and a few surprises.
Next up will be an exclusive tattoo themed itinerary mid-August, with celebrity tattoo artists Steven Tefft (winner of Ink Master Season 2), Resse Hilburn (from Tattoo Nightmares Miami), Bobby Moss, Heather Moss, and tattoo expert Paul Gambino. They’ll all be on board for the entire itinerary, with anyone heading along able to part with the artists, get inked by them throughout the cruise, dive into a tattoo parlour crawl at one of the ports, and participate in numerous brunch Q&As. There’s also the opp to win a free tattoo from one of the artists on board and USD$200 towards a favourite tattoo shop.

As like all U itineraries, both special programs will include an open bar throughout the cruise, three daily meals, select shore excursions, free Wi-Fi, local hosts, and various activities like mixology classes, paint & wine classes and rooftop yoga.
The “U in Drag” itinerary sets sail on 6th July 2019, while the “Tattoo on U” itinerary sets sail on 17th August 2019. Rates for the themed cruises start at $4,399 per person.
