Here are the best Valentine’s Day events in Sydney for 2019

Valentine’s Day is upon us, and as we rush towards the middle of February and into an overly commercialised bouquet of roses, chocolate and declarations of love (or, you know, single awareness), Sydney’s best are coming out to play. Let’s not get too cynical about it though, especially when venues across the city put their own thoughtful spin on the ideal way to spend the 14th of February. Whether that means a fantastical dinner in the middle of a garden, a once in a lifetime climb to the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge, or just a Champagne-fuelled party for singles and couples alike. We’ve rounded up five of our favourite events around town to help you nail those V Day plans.

Bridge Climb

BridgeClimb Sydney are doing something a bit different this Valentine’s Day, honouring their reputation for loved up occasions (over 5,000 engagements and 29 weddings) by running a little competition to give couples the chance to profess their love on an exclusive dawn climb. Scaling the Sydney Harbour Bridge would be spectacular on any day of the year (well, most), but couples lucky enough to get on this one will have their 360-degree views of Sydney complemented by a gold-dipped Eternity Rose, which they will receive on the day for the ultimate photo opp.

The competition ends on Sunday 10th February and winners will be contacted in advance of the climb and officially announced through BridgeClimb’s social media channels on Valentine’s Day. To be eligible, couples must be aged 16 years or over and available to climb at dawn on Thursday, 14 February 2019. Enter HERE.

Coogee Pavilion Rooftop

Merivale’s super-sized Coogee staple will be putting their best foot forward on Valentine’s Day with a good ol’ free-entry singles party. It’s for anyone really, but those looking for quiet one should avoid this one; it’ll be a festive night led by DJ’s Groove City and Kayex, and fuelled by $14 Chandon cocktails, $10 Chandon flutes, and $45 Chandon bottles. To sprinkle a little bit of magic in, there will also be plenty of games and entertainment like a palm reader, guest magician and a giant piñata.

The Calyx

Few venues will be able to boast a magical garden setting of 18,000 flowers and plants smack bang in the heart of Sydney’s iconic Royal Botanic Garden. The Calyx seems like it was custom built just for days like this, so for to add a bit of fantasy to Valentine’s Day this is one four course meal you should definitely be considering. With tickets at $125pp, couples will get a curated meal and a glass of rose.

360 Bar & Dining

If you want to go higher for Valentine’s Day then head on up to the top of Sydney Tower for a romantic four-course degustation dinner looking down on the Sydney skyline. Tickets for the event are going for $190pp and include a glass of champagne, chocolates and roses – all the typical ingredients for an ideal V Day dinner.

Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour

One of Sydney’s newest luxury hotels will be offering up three different romantic packages for Valentine’s Day this year. First, there’s a simple French-inspired four course menu going for $155pp at the hotel’s signature restaurant Atelier by Sofitel, taking couples through the South of France with dishes like Foie Gras Parfait, Tiger Prawn Carpaccio, Grass Fed Lamb Rack, and Vanilla Pineapple Mango confit.

Then you’ve got a more Champagne-focused package at the hotel’s lush Champagne bar, priced at $225pp and hosted by Louis Roederer’s house sommelier. Those heading along can expect four top picks from the Louis Roederer collection, carefully matched with the above dinner.

And finally. Just stay the night. We’re sure you’ve seen pictures of the hotel’s incredible rooftop pool area as well as their lavish rooms, so experience it all by hopping on a one-night-stay package for February 14th. It’s pricey at $1,445 for two people, but you get all of the above (the stay, dinner, and champagne packages).
