Grant’s unveil new Triple Wood Blended Scotch in Australia

Supplier of Australia’s second Scotch of choice Grant’s Whisky have launched a brand new blended scotch sporting a fresh new look and name as part of a global re-branding exercise. Grant’s Triple Wood Blended Scotch Whisky was unveiled this week at Grant William & Sons offices in North Sydney, its eye catching amber colour and complex flavour profile a product of maturation in three distinct different casks of Virgin Oak, American Oak and Refill Bourbon.

The event aimed to showcase the versatility of the spirit by incorporating it into four classic cocktails with a Grant’s twist – a whisky based espresso martini, a tall treacle, a maple laced old fashioned and a sweet n sour. Hosted by Brand Manager of Whisky at William Grant & Sons Justin Strzadala, guests were given insight into the tricky process of creating a fine blended whisky, tasting notes and a little of the company’s backstory.

Strzadala encourages Aussies to stay open minded when shopping for their next scotch “Australians love Scotch but there’s a bias in wanting to dazzle your friends with single malt expertise. The blended scotch category is often overlooked as a one size fits all, frequently shopped on price. This is a real shame because for the majority of Australian scotch drinkers it’s what they reach for every other day and there’s a lot more to its story than they think, both in terms of how it’s made and the flavour profiles.”

Having sampled the goods, it’s fair to say the Triple Wood is quite an easy drinking smooth scotch that blends well into cocktails or enjoyed neat so be sure to keep an eye out on the shelves for Grant’s uniquely shaped “tround” bottles and give it a whirl.
