Delta is bringing “Delta One” business class suites to Sydney-Los Angeles flights

In just a few months, passengers flying Delta Air Lines between Sydney and Los Angeles will notice some big upgrades to the service’s Boeing 777 fleet. Landing on April 18th 2019, the American airline will retrofit the aircrafts with their highly lauded “Delta One”, which is the world’s first all-suite business class, as well as a new premium economy cabin branded “Delta Premium Select”.

The substantial renovation, a roll out which will eventually see all eight of Delta’s 777-200ER and all ten 777-200LR aircraft upgraded, will be accompanied by the widest (18.5″) Main Cabin seats of the airline’s international fleet. This will be in addition to reimagined interiors, and individual in-seat entertainment plus personal power ports (AC/USB) for every seat on the flight. The Business cabin will be slightly reduced from 37 seats to 28 Delta One suites to make room for 48 Premium Select seats, a reimagined cabin which replaces Delta’s extra-legroom “Comfort+” section. 220 seats will make up the Main Cabin.

“Delta Premium Select” will be a sizable new cabin on board the 777 fleet.

Delta One’s enclosed business class suites represent a major leap in luxury and comfort, with each of the 28 suites onboard featuring a seat width of 22-24 inches, with the ability to lie fully flat as a 2 metre bed with memory foam cushions and The Westin’s signature “Heavenly Bedding”. All come equipped with sliding privacy doors, spread generously throughout the cabin in a staggered 1-2-1 configuration.

The renovation is part of a widespread million-dollar investment in Delta’s customer experience across the board. The Detroit to Beijing service was the first to be treated with the 777 upgrades earlier this year, which on flights from LAX also included meals curated by celebrated chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, with dishes like braised flank steak, and roasted chicken with warm bacon vinaigrette.
