D-Link launches Wi-Fi router with extensive parental control features, McAfee protection, voice control

D-Link ANZ has released its new D-Fend AC2600 Wi-Fi Router that boasts unparalleled parental controls alongside increased security for devices on the network thanks to partnerships with McAfee and Intel.

With the D-Fend app, the user is able to set up detailed parental controls that include creating user profiles, setting age-appropriate content, blocking certain categories and websites, Internet curfews, permission requests and pausing Internet access.

McAfee Secure Home Platform offers end-to-end protection that protects every connected device and is complimentary for five years (usually worth $600). The Intel Home Wi-Fi Chipset WAV500 Series manages all wireless traffic so the primary computing engine in the router – the Intel AnyWANSoC, is freed up for security and software functions.

To further assist in protecting devices, the router offers installations of McAfee Live Safe Internet security software and two years worth of coverage for tablets, computers and smartphones (worth $300). 802.11ac boasts fast wireless speeds and increased range with voice control through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

D-Link ANZ MD Graeme Reardon said, “The new D-Link D-Fend Wi-Fi router is one of our most significant products released to date. With a unique set of parental controls, parents can now set profiles for each child to manage the content available to them, as well as have the control to pause Internet access whenever they wish. As a father of young children myself, being able to simply hit pause on my phone to bring an end to their latest video game or their YouTubing to simply get them to the dinner table on time, is fantastic. At the same time, knowing that our kids, our sensitive data, and our devices are protected by McAfee from malicious attacks, malware, botware and viruses is incredibly valuable.”

The D-Link D-Fend AC2600 Wi-Fi Router is available now in Australia at JB Hi-Fi for RRP$499.95 and at the D-Link website HERE.
