Track of the Day: Stevie Jean “Estranged” (2018)

The voice that captivated everybody in 2017 and scored herself a spot in the Triple J Unearthed High Top 5 is back with another epic track. Stevie Jean‘s “Estranged” is the powerful song dedicated to all the outcasts and outsiders, breaking down the boundaries of organised faith, not judging the person you are and accepting your differences. Incredibly bold and vigorously strong, Stevie Jean has a voice that needs to be heard.

After dropping a demo on Triple J Unearthed last year, the last twelve months have been insane for Stevie Jean. After taking a gap year abroad, she hit the ground running with two amazing BIGSOUND showcases that highlighted her strength and maturity as a performer and a mass of support from the biz. On top of that, she has just recently finished a national tour alongside the incredible Caiti Baker, leaving a trail of beloved fans along the way.

About the latest track, Stevie Jean said:

“Bittersweet is an accurate way to describe it. This song is about not judging yourself for your past decisions and accepting the freak that you are. I know a lot of beautiful souls that feel like outsiders in this hyped up, media controlled world and so I hope this song can help them to realise that we are all misfits, no matter how normal we look online.”

A raw and dark exploration, the dark-pop track is full of strained emotion that contrasts the light and the darkness with impeccable beauty. Baring her own identity, Stevie Jean has spotlighted herself as an Australian musician to watch.
