Track of the Day: Pearl the Girl “Mr Informative” (2018)

Pearl The Girl has followed up her debut single “I Hate You” with her delightedly gutsy new track: “Mr Informative”.

Pearl The Girl is a twenty-two year old songwriter, musician and actress from Sydney; you might remember her as Kim in Puberty Blues or more recently as MJ in The Crossing. “Mr Informative” and her previous single “I Hate You”, are both precursors to a full length album, which Pearl is set to release next month. A project which she’s been bankrolling herself. Thankfully though this is no vanity project, anything but, based on the two songs she’s released to date, Pearl is an accomplished songwriter and performer.

It’s hard to believe that “Mr. Informative” is only Pearl’s second release; there’s just so much confidence and swagger to it. It’s a punchy, ballsy and attitude filled blend of pop and rock that really grabs you from that opening guitar lick. It’s a song made to be played live and loud. Pearl describes it as “an anthem for anyone that has ever been stuck in a relationship with a hopeless sack of meat”; and “the kind of song you fantasise screaming in your ex-lover’s face, who appears to revel in your mistakes.”

“Mr Informative” is available now. Pearl the Girl will be launching the single at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney this Thursday night. For more information and to grab a ticket visit HERE. You can also find Pearl on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
