Track of the Day: Long Tall Jefferson “Stay A Little Longer” (2018)

Swiss songwriter and storyteller, Simon Borer aka Long Tall Jefferson has released his new single and video for “Stay A Little Longer” which is off his upcoming second album The Lucky Guy due this September.

The tracks immediate use of slide guitar and melodic hook of “stay a little longer baby” sung by Jefferson sets the scene for a future three minutes of calm, yet sprawling indie-pop that has hints of folk. The founder of Red Brick Chapel record label, Jefferson notes the track”dreams of an old friendship that turns into a sweet new love.” Borer is seen in the accompanying video on a solo, lonely European voyage through sun and thunderstorms sitting by the ocean and playing chess by himself. Whilst light and enchanting, it borders on a melancholic and urgent plead for companionship as he swoons and repeats “let’s just try, let’s just try.”

Directed by Maximilian Speidel, the video for the track does a pretty decent job at soundtracking the need for hope during times of loneliness.

“Stay A Little Longer” is off the new album Lucky Guy which is due to be released in September 2018 through Red Brick Chapel. For more information on Long Tall Jefferson you can check out his website HERE.
