Track of the Day: Kaiit “Miss Shiney” (2019)

If you’re after some funky neo-soul to help lift your day then you could do worse then getting straight across Kaiit and her charming new single “Miss Shiney”.

Following a big 2018, and praise from the likes of legends Jill Scott and Erykah Badu, the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter continues her honey-sweet discography with this confident jam which speaks of self-reflection and staying grounded in the face of self-doubt.

Inspired by her time away in her homeland of Papua New Guinea, the colourful song illustrates and showcases Kaiit’s undeniably slick and casual cool.

“I would wake up really early when it was still cool inside before it got too hot and I would write and record on the floor because we had no furniture in the house”, explained Kaiit referring to her recent time recording in PNG. “I would stay and record bootleg demos in there until about 10am every morning”.
