The latest single from Australian singer-songwriter/producer on the rise, Driftwood, has been released. The track “Higher Mentions” is stunning both aurally and visually, thanks to the accompanying music video, which was filmed and directed by Driftwood himself. Beautifully captivating, the single is also the latest release for Mammal Sounds Records.
A striking and emotive track, “Higher Mentions” is a very positive indication of where Driftwood is headed musically. With a clear talent for songwriting, producing and directing, the song and music video are beautifully complimentary. The captivating and impressive visuals provide another level of story telling to the track and contribute to the Driftwood aesthetic.
According to Driftwood:
“Every song I have created also has its own video with a narrative that walks a line between reality and other ethereal dimensions. I don’t believe in describing narratives and storylines but instead prefer the viewers to use their own abstract intelligence to digest and interpret them for their selves. I generally fly under the radar and don’t like to make a fuss about the fact that I do have a hand in every part of my creative process. I like to paint pictures through music and film, but I don’t like to star in any of my videos and prefer to collaborate with people who inspire me. I am fascinated by literature, music, film and life, and I strive to tell stories across audio and film to provoke thought and emotion.”
Using his recent releases to carve an aesthetic feel to the Driftwood project, this multi-talented artist is combining music and visuals to serve as one unique artistic piece. A multi-disciplined storyteller, Driftwood is definitely one to check out.
