Track of the Day: City and Colour “Astronaut” (2019)

City and Colour are back with their first new single in almost four years, and you probably won’t be surprised to hear that it’s absolutely stunning! “Astronaut” is the first single from Dallas Green‘s upcoming sixth album, produced by Grammy winner Jacquire King and mastered by Emily Lazar – another Grammy winner, just in case one wasn’t enough!

It seems that City and Colour wound up on the backburner for a while, after Green’s former band Alexisonfire announced their reunion back in 2015. But despite a new track (the band’s first in nearly a decade) and a new tour on the horizon for the Canadian post-hardcore legends, Green is back on City and Colour territory, and if “Astronaut” is anything to go by, we’re in for something beautiful.

Of the new track, Green says:

“I always think of the relationships in my life that have been fractured because I ended up doing what I do for a living. I’m always gone, wandering around and singing songs. However, it weighs on my family and friends. I’m asking for ‘one more year’. I left home at 21 to go play my guitar. It’s lonely, but it’s because I yearn to wander. I’m aware of how lucky I am.”

Four years is long enough, so we won’t make you wait any longer. Check out “Astronaut” below!
