Music Matters Interview: Ben Catley (Perth) talks UK tour and his new EP Hectic Heart

Fresh off the back of a UK tour, Ben Catley found himself in Singapore for Music Matters 2018. Hailing from England but living in Perth for the last seven years, Ben is quickly becoming renowned for his high-energy, feel good style. In the midst of his tour of the UK, he released his latest single “Hell’s Teeth”, a roots/rock effort that “has a nice grit to it.” This track is just a taste of what can be expected from Ben’s upcoming EP, Hectic Heart.

Spending just under a month touring the UK, Ben played an impressive array of festivals (Bestival, Boomtown, Green Man) and shows that he describes as “some of my biggest shows to date, it was incredible.” Finding time to visit family in England at least once a year, he acknowledges that “Perth’s definitely home now” and is “certainly an advocate for the Australian lifestyle.” A big supporter of the Australian music scene, it’s clear Ben Catley was a great choice to represent the Aussies at this years Music Matters Live.

Following the release of Hectic Heart, “coming out next month,” Ben is keen to get back into the studio and begin crafting his next single.
