Exclusive Single Premiere: The Avenue “suburbs.cities.towns” (2019)

In prepping their third EP, Bodies, for release later this month, Melbourne indie rockers The Avenue have lifted the lid on their new single “suburbs.cities.towns”. Given the wide acclaim for Names, their sophomore EP released last year, we’re expecting this one to really take off, thanks to it’s poppy The 1975 vibe and perfect marriage of synthetic and organic sounds.

The lush rock-pop backdrop of “suburbs.cities.towns” is lifted by vocalist Sam Thomas, who sounds even more confident as he sits above the busy instrumental and crafts a really slick melody, one which should instantly remind you of the aforementioned 1975, or event Catfish and the Bottlemen.

It sounds like it’ll be a nice addition to their live shows as well, which Australians will be getting almost immediately as the band take their new material to Sydney (Frankie’s Pizza), Brisbane (Netherworld), and Melbourne (Old Bar) towards through Feb and March. Check below for the full dates as well as the single stream, which we are proud to exclusively premiere here on The AU Review this week.
