Aussies Abroad: Julia Jacklin joining First Aid Kit on North American Tour

Kicking off next week, Australian Singer-Songwriter Julia Jacklin is touring some massive venues across North America with Swedish sister-Duo First Aid Kit. Starting on September 9th, the two groups will play no less than 19 shows together across the States and Canada, with one of their Brooklyn dates already sold out.

For those unfamiliar with Jacklin, the artist was born and raised in the Blue Mountains, NSW, and has been passionate about singing since a young age. Inspired by Britney Spears, she took up singing lessons at the age of ten, later on learning how to accompany her well-trained voice on guitar.

On her award-nominated first album Don’t Let the Kids Win, which came out in 2016, the artist warmed our hearts with her soft toned voice, smooth Telecaster tunes and emotional lyrics brought across almost bluntly honest. She also plays in the band Phantastic Ferniture with her high school friend and fellow songwriter Liz Hughes. Jacklin is already working on a new solo album, which will be released in 2019, while her most recent single is “Cold Caller”, taken from her 2017 7″ Eastwick/Cold Caller.

Headlining the shows is folk and indie-pop duo First Aid Kit, featuring sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg who have been on our musical radar since almost a decade ago, when the girls gained recognition with their cover of Fleet Foxes’ “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song”. This year, the duo are on the road celebrating the success of their 4th album, Ruins. With Klara on guitar and Johanna on keys and bass the sisters sing their folky pop songs in a perfect harmony. Check out their recently released single “It’s a Shame” to get absorbed into the universe of indie folk.

Not only will the duo rock North America, but the tour will also give us a sneak peak of Jacklin’s new album, with the artist promising to perform new material. For North American punters, Julia Jacklin and First Aid Kit may just prove the ultimate indie-pop/folk experience.
