E3 2019: Double Fine joins Xbox Game Studios

One of the most important parts of being a first party publisher is having a great network of studios available to you. Xbox Game Studios have been busy, hauling in new talent to create games and content exclusively for the Xbox One and Windows PC platforms. The latest developer to join their ranks is Double Fine, creators of Broken AgeBrutal Legend and the upcoming Psychonauts 2.

“I don’t know what you heard Matt but I’m a team player,” joked studio head Tim Schaefer during the Xbox E3 press briefing. “Whatever you need from Double Fine, we’ll make for you. Halo stuff. Forza stuff. Excel stuff. Whatever you want, we are there.”

“Tim, we just want you to make great games,” replied Xbox Games Studios head Matt Booty.

“Oh thank god cuz I was totally lying,” wheezed Schaefer, doubling over with relief.

Schaefer then threw to a brand new Psychonauts 2 trailer, featuring a world first look at the game in action, which you can find embedded below.

Despite Double Fine’s new home at Xbox, Psychonauts 2 will still be coming to all promised platforms, including the PlayStation 4. It does not yet have a release date.
