E3 2019: Apex Legends Season 2 brings a new weapon, new skins, a new Legend and a new Battle Pass

Hot on the heels of their Star Wars Jedi presentation, Respawn Entertainment went into their plans for Season 2 of Apex Legends. Fans concerned about a dearth of content will hopefully find them allayed with the wave of updates on the way.

The new Battle Pass has been dubbed Battle Charge, along with a fresh new gun, a brand new Legend in Wattson and what Respawn called “a new way to play the game.” (It’s a new ranked mode)

The new gun: it’s the L-Star. Fans of Titanfall 2 will remember the L-Star well, a fully automatic heavy assault rifle that deals extremely high damage. It’s Gold tier so, like the Mastiff and the Kraber, you’ll only be able to find it in Care Packages.

It’s also going to take way less time for players to ding level 100 from now on. The new Battle Pass will include Fortnite-esque challenges in addition to overall XP. It will also offer four new legendary skins for Caustic, Octane, the Spitfire and the R-301. There’s also a new ranked mode to help you compete at a higher level if you’re looking to face off against the very best in the game.

Finally, we’ve got Wattson, the tenth Legend to be added to the game. First introduced in the game’s first real lore cinematic, Wattson is a scientist and top-tier engineer. Wattson places defensive walls made of electricity making her kit all about vital area denial.

Respawn didn’t talk about pricing for any of this, but did say that the Season 2 Battle Pass will drop not long after the end of Season 1.

Apex Legends is free to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
