Here’s what you need to see at Sculpture by the Sea 2018

Sculpture by the Sea , one of the world’s largest annual free-to-the-public outdoor sculpture exhibitions, has now opened for another year across Sydney’s spectacular Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk.

The exhibition, which each year sees the coastline transformed into a 2km long sculpture park over three weeks, features 107 sculptures by artists from 21 countries around the world. An expected crowd of approximately 450,000 is expected over the 18 days as we edge towards the summer season.

Highlights this year include eight works by alumni from the leading Chinese art institution at the Central Academy of Art (CAFA) in Bejing, though these sit amongst many other essential works from artists around the world. This includes leading Australian sculptors such as Hossein Valamanesh, Ron Robertston-Swann OAM, and Wendy Teakel.

Due to Sydney’s currently terrible weather, the exhibitions major Aqualand Sculpture Award of $70,000 will be announced at a later date. As always, the recipient’s work will be gifted to the Harbour Trust for permanent public enjoyment in Georges Heads at Headland Park.

The exhibition is free to the public and runs until Sunday 4 November 2018

Here are some works you should look out for as you head along over the next few weeks.
